Pair of unused linen mètis pillowcases initials NL

These are beautifully and expertly made pieces, pillowcases made from fine linen and cotton mètis, finished with a very skillful and precise example of handmade drawn and wrapped ladder work. The linen mètis fabric is unbleached, and although not quite as fine as fine linen, is very good quality, soft and pliable and smooth. Linen mètis is also tougher than pure linen, but still has the look of linen. These have an embroidered initial NL in one corner. They never been used, and so have no buttons - They were found in perfect condition but with the sizing still in, and have been soaked and washed. The finishing of the handmade buttonholes with their small stop-reinforcements and the handstitched overlapping envelope opening attest to the skill and attention of the maker.

The insert dimensions for these are 62x62cm.
