Pair of vintage corduroy roofing or work pants, small damages

€85.00

From the early 60’s by the look of the label, this is a pair of work pants in a thick black corduroy. These were possibly roofer’s pants, because roofer’s pants were usually made of corduroy and had a lined crotch gusset, which these have - both elements helped to prevent slipping when working on very steep surfaces. They do up with a fly button front and a large hook and eye, and they have metal brace-buttons on the inside of the waistline.

These are overall in good condition, there is not a lot of wear but there are some damages where the pants have been caught on something - four holes on one leg, one small hole on the other, and a small tear at the waistline. They do require some patching and the price reflects that, but otherwise they are very sturdy. The cuffs have been taken up and there is 6cm of fabric folded over.

These measure 44cm at the waist lying flat, so 88cm around the waistline - although bear in mind that all French workpants are cut to sit on the lower ribcage and held up with braces rather than a belt. The legs measure 70cm from crotch to hem.
