Superb large vintage pure linen La Poste mail sack

I will leave aside my ongoing frustration with the French postal system’s pricing, paperwork, and general labyrinthine administrative processes to bring you this beautiful sturdy and very large example of a La Poste sack in heavy unbleached linen. I can date this quite accurately thanks to the little stylised bird logo, which has changed over time - this is from somewhere between 1960 and 1978. It has been stitched together with heavy-duty linen thread, and has a rolled rope lip which would have helped it stay open, plus a metal ring to attach the clip of the carrying strap. I love that even these commercial items were made of natural French linen, and that they were repaired. This one has several strong repairs, and one small hole (all pictured). It is a larger example of these sorts of sacks, which are becoming harder and harder to find. This one measures 57x88cm.
