Set of five linen teatowels, German, c.1930

These beautiful teatowels have been woven from two different colours of linen thread plus red cotton thread for a decorative effect. I am pretty sure they are handwoven but do not know enough about German machine-weaving from this era to be totally certain - the selvedges and the unevenness of the thread looks to me both handspun and handwoven. They have never been used, although I did soak and wash them to remove 90-odd years of storage marks. Each one has a woven cotton hook tape sewn to one end. In perfect condition, with a little handstitched initial G at one end, they measure 45x96cm.
