Unused linen mètis pillowcase with handmade bobbin lace border

This is a beautifully and expertly made piece, a pillowcase made from fine linen and cotton mètis, finished with a superb handmade border of fine linen bobbin lace. The linen mètis fabric is unbleached, and although not quite as fine as fine linen, is very good quality, soft and pliable and smooth. Linen mètis is also tougher than pure linen, but still has the look of linen. This has an embroidered initial NL in one corner. It has never been used, and so has no buttons - it was found in perfect condition but with the sizing still in and has been soaked and washed. The finishing of the handmade buttonholes with their small stop-reinforcements and the handstitched overlapping envelope opening attest to the skill and attention of the maker.

The insert dimensions for this piece are 65x70cm. The lace is perfect.
