19th century oil on canvas of flowers

€320.00

This painting is very much in the style of earlier 18th century Dutch and English paintings of flowers, although this comes from the mid-19th century, probably around 1860-70. It has been executed with competence and flourish, but was probably meant more as a decorative item than as a serious study. The effect is wonderfully exuberant. The frame has long since parted ways with the painting, and there is some damage to the surface but it remains a glowing and beautiful piece. The stretchers on which the canvas is mounted are slightly skewed so this is not exactly square. It measures 50cm wide by 60cm high.

There will be a €10 surcharge on the postage of this piece to allow me to double-box it adequately for travel.
