A large lot of sequins and appliqués from the 1920's-1950's
Coming from a haberdashery store that must have been operating before the middle of last century, this is a large lot of truly beautiful old sequins and other similar things made to be stitched on as decoration. Most of these are made from fine metal, some of them are flat discs, some of them are faceted. There are round ones, squares and lozenges. There are some celluloid pieces, some wonderful mirrored sequins - glass with silver backing - and even two lots of very fine sequins made from mother-of-pearl and abalone shell. Many of the lots come in little cartons with glass lids - these little containers are collectible in France - I think they are originally very old insect-collecting display cases.. Two of them have damaged lids where the glass has come out but the rest are fab. And then there are a couple of smaller plastic boxes with more modern metal cutouts - but I think the bulk of this collection is between 1920-1930. There are also some metal clothing rivets which were found with all of these (see the second-last photo). Metal sequins are very rare in large quantities so I was really glad to find all of these.
Please look at the photos as they are part of the description.
