1960's fireman's boiler suit - truly wonderful but please see measurements

€85.00

This boiler suit is just wonderful and comes from the mid-60’s. It is made from a heavy cotton canvas drill, all the zips are metal (and all are in good condition) and it has pockets with covering flaps and an elasticised waist. It also has very short legs. Was it adapted for someone quite stumpy, or did some stylish goddess in the 1970’s come across it and decide it was the perfect item to wear with stacked-heeled boots? We will never know. It is in great condition and it has the old French fire department insignia embroidered in red on a black velvet background stitched to both lapels. But please see the measurements to be clear. I tried it on to see and the legs reached halfway up my calves - it was however slightly too small for me and would be best on someone smaller and shorter.

Measurements

Lying flat from armpit to armpit across the front of the chest: 52cm

From shoulder curve to cuff along the top of the arm (because of the way this is constructed, the shoulder seam is not at the true shoulder so I am taking the measurement from where the arm curves at the shoulder): 59cm

At the smallest part of the waist: 39cm lying flat stretching to 49cm at maximum stretch

From the top of the zip at the neck to the centre crotch (this gives body length): 64cm

From the centre of the crotch to the cuff along the inside of the leg: 51cm

Please click on the photos to open them up full-sized.
