Large cotton and silk damask furnishing fabric sample from Le Manach

€45.00

A salesman’s sample in a burgundy silk and cotton damask. This was intended as furnishing fabric, and probably dates from the 1940’s-50’s. This has a small damage and has become soiled along the fold-line where it has been stored folded, but the two sides are strong and can be reused. The colour is a little difficult to photograph as it changes when viewed at an angle, but it is a burgundy red. This comes from the now-closed silk manufacture of Le Manach, which was based in the old town of Tours since the early 19th century, and whose archives and designs were bought up by Pierre Frey in 2014. It measures 128×144cm with a small section missing from one corner.
