Two long lengths of never-used antique Lyonnaise silk jacquard ribbon
From the great centre of silk manufacture in the heart of France, these two pieces of silk jacquard ribbon are in such wonderful condition. They have never been used. These come from my own personal collection, I found them about six years ago, and although I have found other pieces of silk ribbon, I’ve never found any in such perfect condition or of such quantity. The Lyon silk manufacturers of the 19th and early 20th centuries were next level in terms of quality and the complexity of their offerings, and ribbon like this simply isn’t made anywhere in the world any more. Look at the reverse side, it is as beautiful as the right side, which is a design of jacquard flowers on an ombré stripe with a damasked design of spiky leaves in the background. Both pieces are 6cm wide and then 122cm and 411cm long respectively.
