This piece of mattress ticking is still sewn into a sack which would have once been full of feathers. It dates from the earlier part of the 20th century and is in good condition for its age and its profession. It is a thick cotton and linen métis in a twill weave and the blue colour is very beautiful. It has very few marks considering its age and those that it does have are small. It has a couple of tiny grazes on one side, and on the other side there is a visible repair and an area of damage which is about 16cm square. Otherwise this is really a superb example of this heavier sturdy mattress ticking with a beautiful colour. These pieces are now very rare, especially in this size and condition. It measures 132cm wide by 210cm long, which if it is opened up means there is over four metres of 132cm-wide fabric.
