Stunning handwoven hemp farmhouse sheet
This beautiful sheet is like new, but is well over 100 years old. It must have spent much of its life in an armoire. This is handspun and handwoven hemp - it is an unusually warm colour which led me to think it was linen, but it feels and moves like hemp so I am going to say - it’s hemp. Beautiful shot colour, darker threads interspersed in the weave, and as always with these very old handwoven farmhouse sheets, it has been stitched together in the centre from two panels of fabric. The hems are delicately rolled and stitched. This is a fairly fine sheet by handwoven hemp standards, and it is about as perfect as these antique pieces get. The colour is warmer than is showing up in photos, the whole piece is simply exquisite. It measures 200×281cm.
