Called ‘pilou’ in French, these two pieces are pure cotton flannelette, brushed on both sides, which was used to make winter work shirts (although it could easily be used for pyjamas as well!). They date from somewhere between the 1930’s to the mid-50’s. These two pieces are not exactly the same but have a very similar stripe pattern and colour of pale purple stripes on a creamy background. The smaller piece is a slightly lighter and finer fabric and is more like warm shirting fabric, the other is more like modern pyjama fabric but very good quality. Both have some storage marks which should come out with soaking. The small piece measures 82cm wide by 83cm long, the larger piece is 79cm wide by 462cm long.
