Early 20th century piqué cotton woman's blouse with handembroidered ruffles and cuffs
Made from a soft figured piqué cotton, this simple blouse dates from around 1910. It has beautiful delicate handembroidery trim on the button placket and the collar, and flounced hand-embroidered cuffs. It does up with three little milk glass buttons - the fourth has been replaced with a plastic pearlized button at a later date.
This is a smaller size. Please read the measurements and compare them to a piece you already own. Lying flat it measures 48cm from armpit to armpit. The sleeves are 47cm from the shoulder seam to the cuff excluding the scalloped ruffle. It is 48cm long and the front but has been beautifully shaped at the back where it is 54cm long. These were meant to be quite short, they were worn with a very high-waisted skirt.
