A set of 18 beautiful large wooden letters from a pharmacy, first half of 20th century

€270.00

These large elegant letters are made of wood - oak most probably - painted cream and with metal plates at the foot of each letter to fix them sturdily to a flat surface. They once adorned the large vitrine window of a chemist’s shop in the département of Vienne (86) in the central west region of France. They spell out ‘PHARMACIE REGIONALE’, and all 18 of the letters are present and all are in good condition considering their age. Each stands 24cm high, and they are truly beautifully made by an artisan woodworker who has fitted together smaller carefully-shaped pieces of wood to form these beautifully-balanced letters.
