Set of four needle lace panels (cuffs?), 19th century
A set of four smaller panels of handworked needle lace on a netting background. My guess is that these are either bodice inserts or were intended as cuffs, to be placed over a fine backing, as the edges and bottom have been worked and there is no raw edges to the netting background. All four are in excellent condition, one is slightly yellower than the others, but they are all the same size and were either piecework for resale or were made for a single garment. They measure 18.5cm wide and are 9.8cm at the widest point.
