Le Manach silk moire lampas furnishing fabric

€55.00

A salesman’s sample in a cream silk moire lampas with eau-de-nil stripes. This was intended as furnishing fabric, and was probably dates from somewhere between the late 20’s to the late 40’s.. It is in good physical condition however it is a little grubby and has a couple of tiny isolated areas where some of the silk threads have broken. The quality of the silk and the lustre is superb. This comes from the now-closed silk manufacture of Le Manach, which was based in the old town of Tours since the early 19th century, and whose archives and designs were bought up by Pierre Frey in 2014. It is in perfect condition, although being old silk it would be inadvisable to put it under too much stress - ideally this would be for making into cushion tops or similar. It measures 56×102cm.
