A never-worn olive-green cotton flannel French army shirt - large size

€90.00
sold out

This very beautiful shirt was found with a load of French army wear dating from the 1930’s, but I cannot be certain that this is also 1930’s, although I think it is. It is made from a beautiful fine twill-woven flannel fabric, slightly brushed on the outside, in a shade of olive green. The olive buttons are so perfect that they look like plastic but they are actually glass. Look at the selvedges on the side gussets and the beautiful gathering at the back of the neck and at the cuffs, both of which inform my belief that this is 1930’s. Beautifully-made and in impeccable condition, this is just the most wonderful piece and is a testament to how well-dressed the French army have always been. Decommission it and make it peaceful, the fabric and the making deserve to be loved. It measures 68cm from armpit to armpit lying flat across the front, 44cm from shoulder seam to seam across the back of the neck, and 58cm from the shoulder seam to the edge of the sleeve cuff along the top of the sleeve. It is 92cm long at the front and 98cm long at the back.
