Probably from the 1930’s or a little earlier, this is a salesman’s sample of fine silk damask, in beautiful tones of soft blue and silver. This was a trade sample from the now-closed silk manufacture of Le Manach, which was opened in the old town of Tours in the first half of the 19th century, when Tours was the centre of France’s silk manufacture. Le Manach’s archives and designs were bought up by Maison Pierre Frey in 2014. This is in excellent condition. It is a very fine and beautiful silk and would make a lovely hanging. It measures 53×144cm.
