This pair of knickers appears to never have been used - the cotton still feels crisp and clean and there is no wear. They are a simple cut, but they have very delicate embroidery with a design of butterflies at both sides. They do up at the back with a single mother-of-pearl button, but it looks as though these were made for someone larger than the current waist size, as the button has been attached off-centre, leaving the back folded over slightly awkwardly. The good news is that this is an easy fix and there is quite a lot of leeway to make the waist larger - or rather to restore the button to the place I think it was originally intended to be. These are entirely handstitched and the waistline is beautifully shaped with darts.
These are in almost perfect condition. There is one very pale yellow mark on one leg, but you would need to be looking (it’s in the final photo). I have soaked, washed and airdried them. The current waistline measures 39cm lying flat, but there is enough room to move the button to make the waistline anything up to 43/44cm flat, or 86/88cm around the waist.
