Piece of very fine herringbone weave pure linen fabric

€50.00
Sold

I don’t know what this was originally, but I am guessing from its fineness and quality that it is 1950’s or prior. Too light to be an army cloth, it nevertheless resembles the sort of fabric that was often used in the army for sleeping sacks. This is pure unbleached linen woven in a very fine herringbone weave. It has been roughly hemmed at both ends, one end has a re-pieced small section added on, so it was obviously something that needed to be the right length, perhaps a removable mattress cover? It is in very good condition, there are a couple of small pale marks, I have photographed the only one that is showing up in a photo. It measures 120×218cm.
