Fine cotton shirt c.1920-30 with contrasting collar and cuffs

€70.00

This is a slightly more mass-manufactured shirt in a fine linen from around 1930 - when mass-manufactured actually meant piece-made by hand possibly by an outworker rather than tailored by a professional tailor. In other words this is still a well-made shirt! It is a plain cotton body and arms with a figured striped pleated cotton bib and doubled-over sleeve-cuffs. It is marked a size 39 in several places, both in little red numbers in the back of the neck, and stamped in ink in two places on the body of the shirt. It is in good condition - one buttonhole is slightly fraying and there is a small inept but charming repair at the front of the shirt where it obviously caught on something. Looks wonderful on! This has folded cuffs which were made to be worn with cufflinks, and has no buttons at the front because it also would have been worn with shirt-studs. It measures 60cm from armpit to armpit lying flat across the chest, 43cm from shoulder seam to seam across the back of the neck, the arms are 63cm from the shoulder seam to the folded edge of the fold-over cuff - it is 86cm long at the front and 97cm long at the back.
