Gorgeous 19th century handwoven hemp sheet with small damages for use or reuse
This is a stunning piece of hemp, thick and flecked with darker yarns where the stalk waste has remained. It in strong and in excellent condition with a few exceptions - it has a couple of damages but they are all around the edges. I have photographed the worst. It also has a couple of very pale yellowish marks, but blink and you’ll miss them - I have taken a photograph (it’s the last one). Because of its condition I am relaxing my usual textile cow stance about cutting up good hemp sheets - this could be used as a sheet or a throw but you would need to bind the edges a little to stop further fraying where the damages are. Or it could be reused for the fabric which is in excellent condition. It measures 181×255cm.
