Large handwoven 19th century hemp sheet

This is a lovely large hemp sheet that does have a bit of wear but is still strong and completely useable. It has been handwoven and dates from sometime prior to 1920. Like all these sheets, it has been stitched together from two panels of handwoven hemp. At some point, the worn middle was unstitched and the panels turned middle to sides to allow the sheet to keep being used. The wear is visible at the sides but the sheet is still strong and there are no holes. There are a couple of pale marks - please see the final photo for an image of one of those marks. These make wonderful throws on couches or as bedcovers, or with a finer sheet underneath they are also excellent light blankets.

This piece measures 223x274cm. It has been soaked and washed.
