This is a large inkwell holder, which would have originally had a crystal or porcelain inkwell in the centre holder. It is made from moulded pewter, and from the design and the expressions on the female faces on either side I think it is pre-1860 and could possibly be early 1800’s. It is in excellent patina’ed condition, solid and thick. It could also be adapted to hold candles or tealights. It measures 26cm long by 17cm wide at the widest points.
