Linen métis tablecloth with raised weft stripes and embroidered initials LH

This is a plain linen and cotton métis tablecloth made from machine-milled cloth that has been woven with raised-weft stripes at either end. In the 19th century these sorts of cloths, with their raised weft stripes, were made from handwoven linen and hemp and were farmhouse and peasant table-linens. This is a more modern copy of that style, probably dating from the 1930’s. It has a simple pair of embroidered initials LH in the centre. It is in very good condition, with just a couple of small marks which I have pictured. It measures 149×201cm.
