Set of ten exquisite very fine large linen damask serviettes initials JC
This is a set of late 19th or early 20th century linen damask serviettes. They are pretty much the finest damask serviettes I have ever found, and are in superb condition, probably little used. Each serviette has a hand-embroidered pair of initials JC in the centre, and a fine handmade stitched ladder border at two ends. These are very large, as were most serviettes one hundred years ago, and they must have come from a wealthy household, the quality of the damask attests to this. They are all in perfect physical condition, two of them have small marks, although they don’t look like the stains left by food and are more likely to have resulted from long-term storage. They each measure 76×86cm.
