A salesman’s sample in a beautiful yellow grosgrain pure silk. This was intended as furnishing fabric, and probably dates from the 1930’s. This is a very classic furnishing design. It is pure silk, and is a little fragile - it has been stored folded in half for many decades and the silk has deteriorated along that fold line and separated into two pieces, but these two pieces are gently useable This comes from the now-closed silk manufacture of Le Manach, which was based in the old town of Tours since the early 19th century, and whose archives and designs were bought up by Pierre Frey in 2014. Each section measures 66×96cm.
