Made from a beautiful unbleached pure linen fabric, this sheet was found in an unused state. It has a hand-embroidered border of polkadots encircled by smaller spots, like little daisies, and a handmade wrapped ladder border. The tracing for the embroidery is still visible, although I have soaked and washed this to get decades of storage dust out. The lower hem is handstitched, and in further testimony to its unused state, the original tacking holding the hem in place for the artisan to stitch it down has never been removed. The sheet measures 237×324cm. It is in almost perfect condition, there are a couple of small marks probably where something was placed on it at some point but they are hardly visible, won’t show up in photos, and will probably eventually disappear completely.
