This is a good-sized sheet in a medium-weight strong pure linen fabric. It has a large hand-embroidered central medallion with the initials BJ, and an extensive checkerboard pattern made from meticulously drawn and wrapped threads (yes, all those ladder borders have been handmade). It is in very good condition, showing little signs of physical wear. It does have a couple of small marks, one very dark one on the hem is actually on the underside of the doubled folded-over top edge and is not visible from the right side of the sheet. The other is a very pale mark in amongst the chequerboard design on the right-hand side of the sheet. It also has two places where the wrapping thread has come undone, again on the right-hand side of the sheet. I have pictured these three faults. It is otherwise in excellent condition, and has a handstitched lower hem. It measures 231cm wide by 327cm long.
