Large long 19th century handwoven hemp teatowel initials FS
From my contact in the Vendée once again I have some limited pieces of amazing hemp coming from a wealthy 19th century farmhouse. This is a large teatowel which was possibly cut down from a worn-out sheet as it has hems on either side , although the fabric is in perfect condition with no wear at all. There is a large and beautifully executed pair of cross-stitched initials FS in the top corner and hook tapes at either end. It measures 56×110cm.
