This is quite a rare find. Not infrequently I find unused embroidered linen top sheets - just like all of us, people from previous centuries would put away their best pieces waiting for the right time to use them, and sometimes that time just never came. But this pair are bottom sheets, and bottom sheets, because of their lack of glamour, and because they were usually far more robust than top sheets, are, in my experience, always used. But this pair haven’t been. Not only have they not been used, but they are made from an exceptionally beautiful heavy slightly slubbed pure linen. This is machine-milled linen but it is lovely. It was woven in quite narrow panels stitched together by hand to make quite large and very long sheets, which gives assistance in dating these sheets to the first few decades of the 20th century. The hems are also entirely hand-stitched. These came from a very large and wealthy household which I have some information on because I found lots of unused or very light-used pure linen top sheets from the same household, some of which are also up for sale.
These are perfect. They measure 234×337cm each. They could also make wonderful curtains. The price is per individual sheet.
