Superb 1940's silk dressing gown
This amazing garment is unlike anything I've ever come across in almost four decades of collecting silk lingerie. It seems to be straight out of a catalogue for a lady of leisure from the mid-40's. The silk fabric is incredible, it is lilac from one direction but shimmers into pink and cerulean tinges as it moves. It is lined with cerulean blue. The gown is padded and quite heavy, and comes with a self belt. The collar is huge and can be folded up to make the whole thing look like an opera gown. I can't find a single spot of damage on the entire piece. It measures 44cm at the waist done up and lying flat, and 41cm between the padded shoulders across the back of the neck. Please look at the photos as they do a far better job of explaining this piece than I can!
