These baskets, still manufactured albeit in not such a scenic way, were originally used as salad spinners, but are ideal as egg-holders. This one is rather magnificent in its wonkiness but it has been beautifully made. It is almost perfect - one of the wire hooks which holds the basket to its round border frame has snapped, but the rest are entirely intact and the piece is strong and useable.
