This is a set of 40 playing cards, from the card manufacturer A. Camoin et Compagnie Marseille . These were termed Spanish or Italian playing cards, and their distinct illustrations plus the number of cards and the division of suites was made expressly for a number of different games which are no longer well-known. These have sharp rather than rounded corners, and date from sometime around 1870. They are in a rare complete set, and are in excellent condition.
