Vintage unused grey checked cotton work clothing fabric

€52.00
Sold

This piece of fabric has never been used, but its original purpose was for making the light long overdresses or smocks that were often worn by shop girls and housemaids and those whose work included light manual labour. It dates from somewhere between the late 20’s the the early 50’s, I can’t really say, because this sort of fabric was in production for decades, but the width and the quality tell me it’s early 50’s or prior. Look at the beautiful selvedges. This is in perfect condition - the cream selvedges are a little yellowed from time but otherwise it is impeccable and perfectly strong - it has been stored properly. It measures 81.5cm wide by 292cm long.
