19th century panel of silk jacquard with a design of poppies
From the first half of the 19th century, earlier rather than later, this is a piece of Lyonnaise silk dress fabric, which has been unpicked from a garment. On a soft bonze/cafe-au-lait background woven poppies in shades of pink and cream with two-tone green leaves are scattered. This is in good condition for its age, but these sorts of silk panels are for study, not reuse. There is a faint mark to one side and stitching all around the edge. This measures 26×52cm.
