This jacket is a riff on the traditional blue workwear jacket, and is a little bit collectable. It’s a fireman’s jacket from the 1960’s, made from the same good quality cotton canvas as workwear jackets of the same era, but with slightly different tailoring and additions. The back of workwear jackets are cut square, this one is curved to emphasise the wearer’s waist slightly and enhance the shoulders, which on this have epaulettes. The small collar has metal eyelets on each side - these were to hold the small symbols of firemen’s clothing (which looks like a bomb on fire!- there’s a whole history behind this symbolism!) This has three external pockets and one internal pocket. It is in good used condition, there are a couple of tiny moth-holes but otherwise this is excellent. It measures 62cm from armpit to armpit done up, lying flat, and measured across the chest; from shoulder seam to seam across the back of the neck it is 51cm, the sleeves are 63cm from the shoulder seam to the cuff edge along the top of the arm, and it is 72cm long.
