Excellent quality large unused pure linen sheet initial YB #2

€140.00

Found in a completely unused state with the chalk marking out the embroidery still faintly visible and the linen mill’s starch still in the fabric, this sheet dates from the 50’s or 60’s and is made from a pure unbleached medium weight linen. It has a handmade drawn and wrapped ladder border and a very fine pair of hand-embroidered initials ‘YB’ (or ‘BY’!) at the centre. Along the selvedge is the branding from the manufacturer of the linen fabric, which reads ‘toile pur lin Fleur Bleue’ - pure linen fabric - Fleur Bleue was the name of the manufacturer and is an indication of good quality sheet and household linens from this era. This is in perfect condition except for a tiny bit of discolouration on the embroidery - see pictures. It measures 235×317cm.
Please click on the photos to open them up full-sized.
